“Pamukkale” means “Cotton Castle”. It is little wonder why this place was given that name. The terraces are made from travertine – a sedimentary rock deposited by water from the hot springs. The ancient city of Hierapolis was built on top of Pamukkale. The healing hot springs have been in existence for a long time, and the ancient Greeks used to come here for their spa treatment. :) I had a really good dip in the hot spring too.
Visiting Aphrodisias, the space and quality of the Venusian influence could be felt strongly. And is it a wonder that ancient greece’s greatest school for sculpture is found in Aphrodisias too? The Venusian inspiration for art and creativity simply flows forth in this place.
